That Monopoly Thing
I do so love when a sharp reader sends something along that totally validates a post. Thanks to Jimmy Z for this one:
Food for thought!
Top 10 Poorest Cities
What do the top ten cities with the highest poverty rate all
have in common?

Buffalo, NY hasn't elected a Republican mayor since 1954;
Cincinnati, OH hasn't elected a Republican mayor since 1984;
Cleveland, OH hasn't elected a Republican mayor since 1989;
Miami, FL. has never had a Republican mayor;
St. Louis, MO hasn't elected a Republican mayor since 1949;
El Paso, TX has never had a Republican mayor;
Milwaukee, WI hasn't elected a Republican mayor since 1908;
Philadelphia, PA hasn't elected a Republican mayor since 1952;
Newark, NJ hasn't elected a Republican mayor since 1907.
Einstein once said, 'The definition of insanity is doing the
same thing over and over again and expecting different results.'
It is the disadvantaged (define that however you will ) who
habitually elect Democrats, yet they are still disadvantaged after all these years!
Imagine that.
My guess is Chicago is not on that list because Oprah Winfery skewed the income averages all by herself.
Looking this over also explains my pessimism on the immediate future of this country. History and the victors brilliance, though more alleged than proven, notwithstanding, many of the above cities have had minority mayors over the years as well. The barrier busting of minorities in office is a great thing on it's own, but here is proof it is certainly no harbinger of progress.
For the good of the country I wish only success for the new administration. But unlike my liberal counterparts I am not ready to pounce on every failure for political advantage. If he doesn't adopt some conservative economic principles to get us out of this mess that will take care of itself.
When I see the Governor of Michigan as one of his top economic advisers my doubts are confirmed, unless of course she's there to provide an example of how not to run an economy, but I somehow doubt that. The higher taxes and spending and generally anti-business tenor of her term has made Michigan's one of the worst economies in the country.
Between her and the hemroid toothache Emmanuel, this change doesn't feel all that changey.
