Some have e-mailed looking forward to my reaction on the Palin pick. Even since the announcement a lot has happened and I gotta say, even in spite of the family soap opera stuff, this a real game-changer, and at a point in game when he could have played it safe, McCain threw the long ball.
I am totally delighted at the choice. Three huge reasons
1) The knee jerk Democrat response about the lack of experience on the bottom of our ticket will automatically shift the focus to the same shortcoming at the top of theirs.
2) People who want to "make history" can do so on either ticket. The white guilt factor has been all but eliminated. For the Weisberg's of the world, i.e. those who hold the only reason Obama can lose is because of racism, we can now counter, with as much plausibility, albeit not much, that the only reason McCain can lose is because of sexism. Piffle.
3) Palin is a conservatives conservative, she, unlike McCain who talk the talk, at times, walks the walk and has actually governed on conservative principles. I will grant, though it goes against my reservations about him, that McCain has in fact talked the talk but let's get real, that's really a Senators stock in trade, it's all they can do.
And finally..
Our veep is RED HOT
Their Veep ain't Diddly Squat
