The Gingrich Visit

As promised, the report on the Newt appearance I attended last Friday.  Basically, his thesis is described here:

Four simple concepts.  A science and technology-based, entrepreneurial free market should create more choices of higher quality, at lower cost, with greater convenience.  This is a language you can use with everyday Americans that does not require them to get a PhD in microeconomics.  You can say to them: would you like to have a system, one that works, where you get more choices of higher quality, at lower cost, with greater convenience, or would you rather have a system over here where you get fewer choices of lower quality, at higher cost, with greater inconvenience?  It’s not complicated.

Here's a video of some of the highlights of the Club for Growth rally last week, featuring some familiar local faces... and Newt Gingrich.  Courtesy Charlie Sykes

This is from a speech transcribed on his webstre www.newt.org

But the line of the day?
"Madison is not as bad as Washington - - but only because it's smaller".

Video features not only Newt but Milw County Exec Scott Wlaker, our next Governor hopefully, Sen Leader Mike "Firewall" Huebsch, and Vicki McKenna WIBA Madison talk show hostess.  Conservative leadership like this is almost enough to remain an optimist...

Shout out to brother Miegs for the link on Sen. Huebsch and huge shout out to the Heineyman for a great event on Monday.  It ain't about the golf, we losers like to remind ourselves...it's about the camraderie, and in that regard, we are all winners.  God to see brother Phil, Tom, Zwick, Carol, J.J. Deb, Kay, Toolman et. al.

Heineyman is an exceptional cook, fine musician, sharp owner operator, fellow cermudgeonly conservative, great friend and great American.
